• Yes you can. you have to dig for the information on the internet but it is out there and you don't have to be a genius or root your new Fire either. If you go into the fire setting under security you will see a toggle to turn off third party application access. flip the toggle the other way and you are golden.

• You CANNOT use Google Play on it. You can ONLY get the apps for the Kindle Fire 7 on Amazon's website.
