The original kindle fire had this problem. Is this the original kindle?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased 3, and they arrived with approximately 85% charge and took only 30 minutes to get to 100%. Two were used for around 9 hours by grandchildren before I recharged. They were not down to 10 percent, yet, and then took around three hours to recharge back to 100%. Remember to shut them all the way down if you don't plan to use them for awhile. Grandchildren will not be playing with them but an hour most days, so charge should last. I use 1 at school in my classroom for about 1-2 hours each day with students, and I only have to recharge it at the end of the week. I have had no trouble charging mine.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, we have had those charging problems too. Thankfully, the charging cable does now have the little connectivity symbol to show which way to plug in (symbol goes up-facing, to match the device screen). There are tiny little prongs in the kindle unit that must precisely match up with the cable. Vulnerability of the connection is an ongoing problem with Kindles. I have Kindle Paperwhite for 3 years; still have that problem with it charging about half of the time.
