• Yes, it has built-in ads on the splashscreen. Nothing pops up when you are using it, you will only see the add when you lock the device.

• An ad shows on the screen when you wake the tablet out of sleep. I have to say that this isn't at all intrusive because you just swipe up on the screen and you're into the device. They don't pop up on the screen while you're using it. It's simply a sleep screen and the ads actually are products you may find useful.

• When you wake the tablet, there will be an ad displayed on the screen, which you bypass by swiping up. I have not found it to be problematic or invasive in my tablet usage. I don't know if they offer an ad-less version of the $50 Amazon Fire. But this tablet is an amazing value for the quality you receive at this low price.

• No, there are no ads built in to the Kindle Fire. They come from Amazon.
