Like the original Kindle, is the screen still visible in the sun? Like the IPAD you can't really use it in the sun light on the beach.

well, this is not a kindle, it is a Fire tablet, with a backlit LCD screen.
think iPad or android tablet.

If you want something that is made for reading in bright sunlight I would suggest a Kindle e-paper e-reader. like the kindle paperwhite or voyage.

I don't use mine by the beach, but my daughter does and she seems to have no problem!!!

If you put it on max brightness, you can see it somewhat in daylight, for example i sometimes use it in car with the sun coming in window. However, what you are talking about is an e-Ink screen, and no it does not have that. There are still kindles that offer that, even a wristwatch that offers it i think, but none of the color tablets with full interactivity really offer that because it's a little too slow to update those screens and I'm sure there are other issues.
