“When I am using my kindle often a yellow bar appears. It has the sound icon on one end of the bar. It goes away but keeps coming back while I am reading. What can I do to get rid of it?”

I'm not sure, but you might be hitting the volume control button which brings up the sound icon and a bar to show volume level. Or, it might be for audible reading of the text. The first is easily fixed: keep your fingers away from the volume control toggle. The second, I assume can be turned off in settings?? Maybe not as much help as you want, but a couple of ideas to start with. Do you subscribe to Audible Books? I don't, so I'm not sure how that works.
