• I believe mine is the "2015 edition". I use the Google ChromeCast to connect the Kindle to my HDTV for watching Qello. Works great!

• No, you CANNOT hook it to up to your HDTV. And it is the 5th generation.

• You can send the tablet output to an HD TV but the resolution of the programming will not be of HD quality. An Amazon Firestick is the most compatible transfer mechanism but Chromecast and Roku will also work.
