do i need a smart tv for it to work? null

Hello sillyme! This device actually turns any TV into a smart TV so it does not require a smart TV to work. Even smart TVs can use this device in order to replace/use the Fire OS interface and apps and services on this as opposed to the one used in smart TVs.
