Your TV will not become "smart".
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Definitely Not a "Stupid-Question".. And Yes indeed, both the Current Fire-Stick 4K-Ultra, and previous Version Fire-Stick 1080-HD can be used on a(n) HD-TV, as long as the HD-TV has a free HDMI Port... There are older Versions of HD-TV's that utilized RGB/Component Connectors and did not have any HDMI Connectors, and the Fire-Sticks Do Require the HDMI Connector.. And Yes, in essence, the Fire-Stick will make your HD-TV a Smart-TV.. Different Vendors, Trade-Magazines, etc; have varying definitions of what a Smart-TV is (or is not).. Basically, if a TV can be used to Surf the Web & Stream Premium Channels in Hi-Definition, then it is considered a Smart-TV.. The Amazon Fire-Sticks come with the same Silk Browser as the Amazon Kindle, which can be used to Browse the Web.. And with either Amazon Prime, or You-Tube, or Net-Flix, etc; Accounts, one can Stream Premium Channels via the Fire-Stick, once it is plugged into the HDMI Port on the TV, and connected to Local Wi-Fi Router.. Hope this helps..
