I had a similar problem last year. All was well until one day I noticed some missing channels. Scanned and rescanned to no avail. Turned out that a lightening strike had fried the balun connector going from the antenna to the cable. Put on a new balun (matching transformer) and worked like new. If your antenna is mounted outdoors you might want to check on that. For a $5 piece it might be worth changing anyway just for curiosity.
