Literally nothing! The lightening connectors are just more of an inconvencience b/c you can't charge and listen to music. They're meant for the new iphones which removed the 3.5mm jack.

The ones with lightning connector are for the newer IPhones that do not have a headphone port.

This pair, having the headphone jack, is the style Apple is moving away from. The newer iPhones have the 3.5 mm headphone jack removed from them so this style is the “outdated” version. The Lightning connector plugs straight into where the phone charger goes. So most likely, the price difference is the push to go with the Lightning connector rather than buying the older, headphone jack version.

this one has the 3.5mm at the end of the wire while the other one has the lightning connector at the end. this one goes in the head phone jack and the other one is connected in the charging port of your phone.

Unfortunately, Apple has made the lightning connector and bluetooth "airpod" the standard for their newer models which has weirdly made the less compatible and older technology of a 1/8in jack more expensive to get hold of.
