“Since these are advertised as refurbished, I’m not sure what has been done to attain that qualification beyond just testing. More specifically, I assume all features and functions have been checked. That assumed, has the battery been replaced with new?”

Refurbished items work just as brand new! I believe the only difference is the fact that buying refurbished means you’re not the first owner of that specific item. I’ve had plenty of refurbished items by Apple, and every thing I’ve had has been amazing quality and works amazing.

I would advice buy brand new even tho these are alittle cheaper its just waste of time by friend had same issue. I dont think tech actually test 100% but either way very disappointed with best buy and Apple right now
