Hello, I do not have android I have a Microsoft HTC phone. And somehow I had a client of mine contact me over the I pad and I was on wifi and was able to communicate to this client via my ipad through wifi. Not sure how my phone connected to the messenger service on the ipad. I am assuming through my phone number that was connected to the account I created on the ipad. So I am going to say yes to your question you can communicate. Hope this helps
