“I just bought a new iPad, my young grandson typed numbers on the screen to open it. I have no idea what the numbers were and he can’t remember. Whatever I try it will lock me out for an hour. Is there any way I can reset this, or how do I open the screen?”

You should make sure to set up your device yourself prior to allowing children to use it in the future. Fortunately, Apple does give you a way to reset your device to factory defaults: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306
