These were originally launched in 2022, when they completely revamped the MacBook Air lineup. They are still very much capable in 2025 however, and the argument can be made that the M2 version is the BEST version to buy at the moment as the upgrades brought by the M3 chips primarily improved GPU performance. If you are not planning on using the laptop for significantly demanding creative or professional tasks on a daily basis- or do not have the intention of daily uber demanding gaming then this M2 version will be more than adequate I believe. It has been for me at least.
