• It comes with Apple’s office suite which is compatible (not sure HOW compatible, but certainly for normal use), but otherwise you’d need to buy or subscribe to Microsoft office separately, or use the online version, or use Libreoffice or something.

• No. It does not. Apple does provide its versions of Office apps: Pages, Numbers, Keynote on this machine. You can covert Pages to Word, documents and Numbers spreadsheets to Excel. If you'd like to save money, these could work for you. Otherwise, you will have to purchase separately.
