“I have been using MacBooks for many years but never used a wireless trackpad. Can I set this up to work exactly like the trackpad on my MacBook? Does this trackpad "click" like a MacBook or are there different haptics used on this one?”

Yes it clicks basically like your MacBook but better in my opinion. I like the experience of a Magic Trackpad better, the click feels more elevated?
