Yes. I dropped Dish and use Apple TV to stream Hulu Live for less than half the cost! I also added a few other apps for additional content I’m interested in watching.

It doesn’t Directly replace dish or cable. You need to have subscriptions like Hulu, Netflix, HBO or etc. to have access to viewable content on the AppleTV.

Yes it can replace the dish and cable. If you want any station that isn’t on Hulu you can download the app for it. For example, I have Hulu, Netflix and Prime instead of cable but I also downloaded the CBS app to watch football games.

It will not replace cable or Dish on it's own. However, it does allow you to get apps for services such as Sling TV, Playstation Vue, Hulu Live TV, that can act as a cable TV/Dish Substitue. If you're not interested in Live TV, then you can check out basic Hulu, Netflix, etc.
