According to Optimum Internet ( https://optimum.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3832/~/optimum-online-provided-modem ), "If you choose to purchase your modem, there are many DOCSIS-certified models that are compatible with Optimum Online, but they don't include tech support, including malfunction or upgrade equipment replacements."
