Its screwed in and uses a plug. You can at this time order a replacement from Asus. I can't say for how long the OEM will be available for. You can always try aftermarket/third parties, but thats absolutely at your risk and almost never recommended. As for 'upgraded', again the third party not recomended, but if size specs (power in power out heat) allow, not a good idea.
