• ​Yes this model does have support for PCIE Gen4x4 in the 1st slot & Gen3x4 in the 2nd slot.

• Asus is wrong. Both slots are Gen 4. I confirmed this by moving my Samsung 980 Pro to the second slot after buying the Samsung 990 Pro and performance benchmarks are identical between the slots.
