“If I get messages on the phone can they be stored and not removed if some child picks up the phone and listens to the messages and then the automatically get erased so when I later retrieve them they are gone. Like my current Panasonic system does this??”

The options are Play/Stop, Skip, Repeat, or Delete. As long as no one presses the Delete button the messages will stay there.
