“Will this unit stay on all the time and provide a constant wifi connection like a standard line line connection. The current mobile hotspot device I have will time out when nothing is connected to it. I'm not concerned of over using data usage.”

This device does not time out, and even had the battery if the electricity goes out to have internet from your cell phone provider. We use it as a continuous Wifi to run all our devices in our home, including Alexas, firestick, computers, and more.

This has a setting that allows it to stay alive so that should do it but it could be a spotty LTE connection or provider enforced disconnect or if you run this into a router it could be your router. In general it will stay connected however and if you are using a provider supplier device this will be a huge upgrade.
