The nighthawk comes with its own AT&T SIM card so you don’t need to get one separately. I used to have the netgear LB1120 which worked okay but the biggest difference is the category that each device is. The LB1120 is a category 4 device which only allows connection to a single cell tower. It also only allows speeds of 150mb down and 50 mb up. I was getting somewhere around 6 mb down and 2 mb up. The new Nighthawk modem/router is a category 16 device which means it can connect to up to four cell towers at the same time allowing higher speeds. The max speeds for this are 1 gb down and 150 mb up. I’m actually very happy so far with this device and it has given my wife and I our internet back. We moved to the country where there are no options other than satellite internet which is not only terribly data capped but also ridiculously expensive. Just remember that if this device doesn’t work out for you Best Buy charges a 45 dollar restocking fee if you return it, so keep that in mind. It works great and I got rid of the satellite internet. If you can get the unlimited plan do it, it says they can throttle your internet speed if you go over 22 gigs of data usage but only at times of high traffic on the cell tower. I used over 110 gigs on mine last month and it was never throttled. It also has the option for a antenna to boost the cell signal which I'm going to try soon. I wired mine into my Google on hub router because it has a better WiFi range and it works great, best hot spot I've ever bought.
