Do I need both the wireless charger and the pad? null

Hello there. The pad itself is the wireless charger. For compatibility, make sure your device is capable of Qi wireless charging in order for the pad's charging to work.

I am not exactly clear what you mean by 'both the wireless charger and the pad'? If I understand you, the charger IS the pad. You simply put any wireless charging item (like iPhone X or Samsung Note8 and many others) on the charger (even if the devices are in protective cases) and the device charges. You will see on the screen of your device that it is charging and how much charge it has at any given moment.
