The basket filter is plastic and some sort of fabric and comes out of the basket filter that fits into the coffee maker which is also plastic. I still use a paper coffee filter so it’s easier lifting the “used brewed coffee” out of the coffee maker and tossing it in the trash. I use hot water and a brush to clean the filter-nothing is stainless steel, but the finish
