No. You don't even have to plug it into an electrical outlet. I receive over 50 channels in Pheonix, Arizona. The really good news is, I get HD channels to.

No- or is completely separate from internet. When our internet goes down we can still get the digital antenna stations.

No, we bought one when our internet when down and took a TV out to the driveway on Halloween to watch the World Seties and it worked great.
