• The wrist rest is magnetic so you can use it without it. Don't know why you wouldn't though.

• its magnetic to the keyboard. Height of pad is maybe half inch

• The wrist rest connects to the metal case of the keyboard via magnets and can be removed very quickly and easily. The wrist rest angles upwards with its lowest point being 1/2 of an inch and highest being 7/8 of an inch; as for the medium-density foam, it is about 3/8 of an inch and if you do bottom out you will feel the chassis of the wrist rest. It is extremely comfortable none-the-less.
