No it does not, you do need something inside or just have your cell phone chime. I use the cell phone and a bunch of Echo's I already had.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The sync module does NOT work as a chime. My house is old and has no existing doorbell wiring or chime. However, my wife and I both have smart phones with the Blink app installed AND I have six Amazon Echo devices throughout the house. (Big Brother Amazon is listening). After a little configuration in the Blink and Alexa apps, whenever either of the doorbells is pressed, both my wife's and my smart phones via the Blink app make a doorbell chime sound and we get the option to enter a live webcam feed and initiate 2-way conversation from the doorbell that was pressed. In addition to that, I have all six aforementioned Echo devices in a speaker group called "Everything" via the Alexa app. Both doorbells show up in the Alexa app and I have notifications enabled for both of the doorbells in the Alexa app. So, in addition to both smart phones making a chime sound when a doorbell is pressed, all six Echo devices in unison all announce that there is someone at the doorbell that was pressed. "Someone is at your front door". "Someone is at your side door." Thus far even though I do not have a physical chime, the smart phones and Echos more than make up for it.
