“I want to use the air-fry function but when I press air fry-start the screen shows pre-heating and microwave. Why is the microwave running on air fry? I had aluminum inside and it sparked once and I shut it off. Microwave is not selected what's happening?”

As indicated in the manual, you'll want to use the crisper pan that came with the unit for the Air Fry function. You'll also notice that there is an image in the manual that does indicate that the word "microwave" will show on the screen until the unit has preheated. This is normal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Can't say why it pre-heats with the microwave, but when used with the combi-cooker pan with the legs out it air frys well, just have to wait until it is pre-heated. Learned that lesson myself.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just bought the combiwave for the ability to airfry. I am new to this so I did what you are SUPPOSED to do which is READ the directions FIRST!! IT says right in the book that you MUST use the provided crisper plate and nothing else! It has ONLY 2 AIRFRY TEMPS 400 AND 450!! Now why this is the only 2 temp choices is not said. If you require lower temps the book suggests using oven mode or the other function mode for crisping. So far it has performed very well as a microwave! Ive made hot tea from ice cold water, cooked frozen breakfast sausages, and 2 frozen dinners ( no airfry directions) and everything has been perfect. I just now attempted my first airfry of mozzarella sticks. It was just a guess of timing as directions said 6 to 7 minutes. I used 5.5 just to be safe since 400 degrees is tbe lowest temp setting. At that setting the sticks were not golden like deep fried usually is, nor were they the stretchy gooey sticks you get in a restaurant. They WERE INDEED CRISP AT 5.5 MINUTES. I experimented by putting them on a china dish and microwaved for 30 seconds. They were very hot and not soggy but STILL didnt melt the cheese. The sticks were just starting to split open when I stopped the microwave. So yes , the airfry function mode works well so far. I will test next time with french fries. It better not be soggy or no color! I originally wanted the airfry feature for leftover pizza. It gets very soggy just using the microwave. I then had to heat it up in my cast iron frying pan for crisping the crust again! Hopefully no more of that!!!! Excellent machine so far. It is also a convection oven so grilling/ roasting will be the next function I want to try.
