Brother does a poor job telling a beginner WHERE the access port is on the various machines that use this toner cartridge.
Logically, the cartridge must go into the machine so that the cartridge is perpendicular to the paper path. In other words, look at your paper path carefully. Whatever side of the machine the paper moves FROM the paper tray through the machine — that is the side of the machine where the toner replacement or drum replacement hatch will be. Look for the hatch opening pulls on each side of your machine, use the grip to tug the hatch open and from that point the instructions should be decently easy to follow. NOTE: these grips will be in the exact same place on opposite sides of the machine, and if you look closely you will spot the access port hatch. It is not marked otherwise.
Believe me once you have located the toner/drum replacement hatch you will never forget how to perform this particular chore again.
