- Answer Yes, 2-sided printing works fine. CD's unknown. Though I haven't yet printed transparent paper, I'm confident it will work well. This is a great little printer!

- Answer The ink may not detect if you are using non-Brother ink cartridges or refills for the MFC-J497DW.

- Answer Brother doesn't recommend using the Brother MFC-J497DW to print labels due to the likelihood of them becoming dislodged in the paper path causing damage. Brother's limited warranty doesn't apply to any issues caused by attempting to print labels with this machine.
