Focus is pretty good. In lower light I have had it struggle once or twice, mainly pulling focus to an area with the best contrast, but overall, I'm very happy with it. I'm very glad I didn't buy the first G7x, as this was a bigger problem from what I've read, as well as the raw buffer was horrible. Filling the buffer now when shooting raw+jpg takes numerous shots, but once full, the camera will freeze until it can complete writing the data files.
