• Hello B, this is Kelly with Dyson. When using the TP01 Pure Cool Tower, the fan does need to be on to purify the air. The machine works by drawing in air through the bottom of the unit, where it's purified as it passes through the filter, getting expelled through the loop on top of the machine.
