There is a separate charger that plugs into most any 110V wall outlet. And the charger has a fairly long cord with a plug that plugs into a receptacle on the vac. Charging time is 3.5 hours. Yes it would be wise to fully charge after use and then put it away.

The wall stand just enables you to feed this cord through the wall stand. When you hang it on the wall it automatically plugs it in for you. Works well. bottom line is you don't have to use the wall stand to charge. Bottom line, you have to give it power sometime. So if you want to keep it in a closet then there will have to be an outlet or you will have to charge it then put it in there. Just hang it on the wall outside the closet in the laundry room out of view problem solved.

The Dyson V6's wall mount is designed so that you can thread the charger assembly to charge the unit while stored in the mount. The would require the mount be installed near an outlet. It is not necessary to utilize the wall mount in this way and can mount the unit in a separate area from the charger. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello...the unit came with a mounting base which does requires you to mount it to the wall. You must loop the power cord into it's respectable slots. The mounting base is spring tensioned to keep the vacuum in place when charging.
