“Do you have to pay the monthly subscription in order for this to work? I do not have $120/year to spend but cannot get past the Driver Support payment page. I tried to connect using the cord provided (J371A)- it did not work- no power button too. Unhappy”

Hi KB, Epson does not charge for scanner drivers. Please make sure you are downloading the driver from the Epson support site. The Perfection V39 is powered by the USB cable, so you MUST load the drivers on your PC or Mac before the scanner will power up. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.

I had no problem with using my v39. I made 3800 photo scans with the cord it came with. I have not had to pay for anything after buying the scanner.
