Does this take data away from your cellphone plan? null

It shouldn't. It only connects via Bluetooth with your smartphone. But if you keep the app open on your smartphone, the app may send or receive data to sync with your online account.

No. it uses Bluetooth to report data to the app on your phone so you can see your history and progress without using any data. The app will let you compete with other friends with a Fitbit and look up food nutrition from an online database but if you use the setting to not allow the app to use cellular data you will not get into your data plan at all.
