We have a Samsung 6 and it works with that, so I think it would probably work with the 5.

However, we don't have the S5 ourselves, so this answer is based on how it is supposed to work with the Andriod app, as opposed to actually testing it ourselves.

There are known issues with the notifications features with some Android phones (possibly the S5), but there is no for sure answer for that one. I believe it's just a weird bug. Old information/packaging may have not included the S5 in the compatibility breakdown since it is a newer model when the Fitbit was released. You'll be good!
