Hi, James! Temperatures below freezing will typically not affect the operation of the compressor. However, in extreme temperatures we do recommend keeping an eye on the freezer to ensure no major components are freezing. ~Ashton

For the most efficient operation, the appliance should be located where surrounding temperatures will not exceed 110°F (43°C). Temperatures of 32°F (0°C) and below will NOT affect operation. Additional compressor heaters are not recommended." your question of extremes of minus - 35 is arctic level cold.I'd contact Frigidaire for that specific information. We LOVE this freezer -hope things work out for you.
