“I've read some people say (on other website reviews) that the shelves tend to bend when weighted down with food. I think it's people who have a side of cow or elk meat in the freezer (not just you typically pizza boxes, etc). Can someone confirm?”

I have no problem with mine, if you have real heavy stuff put it on the sides instead of the middle

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.if you put too much weight on the front of the shelf. however if the weight is towards the back , no problem I have put 30 lbs. of meat and over 40 lbs. of chicken with out a problem
