“Will the top "compartment" shown on this unit keep soft ice cream frozen? I know it's designed to stay a bit cooler than the rest of the open fridge but we specifically need to be able to keep soft ice cream frozen which takes a bit more cool than ice.”

The top compartment is a chiller compartment designed for the short term storage of frozen foods. It is not designed to store frozen foods on a long term basis. Ice cream typically requires lower storage temperatures.
