“Is the app required to operate the dashcam?”

• You don't need the app for it to be recording and doing it's thing while you drive. You only need the app to view a live video feed or to download videos/pictures wirelessly in your car. Alternatively you can just pop the SD card into any computer to view the video files also if you don't want to download their app.

• Yes, but be prepared to wait 10 to 15 minutes for app to connect. Garmin cameras appear to have a serious problem with the app connection to your phone and it's been like that for years so don't expect a fix anytime soon as they just don't care. Get something else with better software please!
