• there is for the Garmin Vault subscription to save clips to their cloud, but it's optional. without it, you can still record and save everything locally to the SD card.

• A subscription is only required for a few features, including the Parking Guard and Live View feature, which help monitor your vehicle when you're away. Also, if you'd like to easily share saved video clips, you'll need to pay for a Vault subscription.
