“When I plugged in my Garmin 61LMT-S to initialize, it said the HDMI cable could not charge my device battery. Why not? No explanation given by Garmin. The very same type cable charges my iPhone.”

i can tell you it did the same for me but it did charge when i did all the updates and when i unplugged it the next morning it was full and the one for the car is working fine hope this helps
