• This GPS is charged via a USB cable and a car charger. A 2.1 amp USB charger can be used to charge this unit.

• I personally have never charged any of mine in the house, always plug in to car while driving. Is this not an option for you? The next suggestion would beusing the ussb cable and seeing whether it works with a power strip that has the usb port. Not certain Garmin makes a home wall charger for gps because they are charged in the car.

• I thought I had the same concern. Apparently it still DOES charge, even when it says it isn't. At least, that's what I noticed with the two that I have purchased so far.
