• Smartphone not required to use it. But many features integrate with a phone. Like traffic data used your phone.

• Yes, you will need a Smartphone to receive the Live traffic information on the DriveSmart 61 LMT-S. Unfortunately this GPS will not pair to your vehicle, it is designed to be synced to a Bluetooth-enabled phone, such as your smartphone for hands-free calling and to share information via the Garmin Smartphone Link app. Thanks, James
