QuestionI have a ge profile microwave I put in 10 years ago. The microwave works fine but the paint is falling off inside exposing the metal. Is there anything I can do about this. Should I be concerned.
Asked 8 years ago by Klb.
- Answer Hi Klb- If the coating is actively flaking or paint is peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity we recommend to discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. The microwave is not repairable. The cavity coating in GE Appliances microwave ovens is selected to be safely used as a food-contact surface and meets GE Appliances' and applicable government requirements for such use. No lead or other toxic materials are added to the cavity coating material used in GE Appliances microwave ovens. See the following link- MICROWAVE - CAVITY REPAIR NEEDED DUE TO ARCING, CHIPPING, PEELING OR SCORCHING: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16197 - Thanks for choosing GE. QuestionI have an older GE Profile JEMSF01 Spacemaker microwave. Interior R light flashing/sizzling when opened. Unplugged. Does this mean fuse is blown? Light needs replacing? Other?
Asked 8 years ago by SDW.
- Answer Hi SDW- While we strongly recommend not using an extension cord, the interior light may flicker when the oven is in use if installed with an extension cord. Cooking times may also be longer. The microwave should be plugged into its own properly grounded, dedicated electrical outlet to prevent the flickering of the lights, blowing of a fuse or tripping of a circuit breaker. See the following link- http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18836 - A qualified service technician is required for an accurate diagnosis. For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to high voltage (capacitor hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). If interested you can contact GE Appliance Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance or conveniently schedule an appointment online: http://www.geappliances.com/service_and_support/service/ - Due to age, you may want to considering a replacement. QuestionI need to repair or replace my GE Spacemaker II JEM25BF001. I have my previous one hung under a cabinet and I'm wondering if I would need to buy the hanging kit for this one or if the same one that is working for the old one will work for this PEM31FSS?
Asked 8 years ago by Mamabe.
- Answer Hi Mamabe - We certainly appreciate your loyalty! When replacing old model with a new model, a new kit will be needed. Updated kits have the proper templates and brackets for the new model; the installation instructions stay the same. PEM31SFSS is compatible with Undercabinet Hanging Kit JXA019K (sold separately). QuestionI need a replacement that will fit in the same space as the GE JVM1660WHO4 over the range microwave. It has the fan on the bottom. Thank you!
Asked 8 years ago by LuvMyTwins.
- Answer Hi LuvMyTwins - It's nice to hear from you! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions. The comparable models with sensor cooking controls are GE® 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM6175DKWW and GE® 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM7195DKWW. Model JVM7195DKWW has a dark gray, easy-clean enamel interior with Steam Clean option. Play Video: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=23964 - It also has a four-speed, 400-CFM venting fan system to quickly remove smoke, steam and odors from the cooktop to keep kitchen air fresh and clean (compared to Two-speed, 300-CFM- JVM6175DKWW). We certainly appreciate your loyalty. Enjoy! SUE@GEA

Questionthe GE Spacemaker II has gone out, JEM31SF001, and will need a replacement or repair. I was looking at the GE PEM31SFSS and it is close to the same dimensions. Does it need a 2 inch clearance on the sides as it is in a spot that is 2 ft wide?
Asked 8 years ago by Spacemaker.
- Answer Hi Spacemaker- Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. When installed on counter, we recommend 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. See the following link- MICROWAVE AIR CLEARANCE - COUNTERTOP MODELS WITH OPTIONAL HANGING KIT: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=21669 - This model is also available with a trim kit, however, the cutout width is approximately 24 7/8". QuestionMy 2002 GE over the oven microwave just died. The unit is only 28" wide, including the container it makes 30". The model is J T P85WOD1WW. Can I order a replacement unit and have it installed by a local electrician?
Asked 8 years ago by SueB.
- Answer Hi SueB - We are sorry to hear your microwave is no longer operating and certainly appreciate your loyalty.
