- Answer When replacing a microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, exhaust adapter and new trim kit should also be used.

- Answer No, you will not be able to use the same trim kit. The compatible trim kit for the PEM31DFBB is part JX827DFBB.

Questioni have a 12" depth cabinet over the stove. Need a new microwave. There is a shelf the microwave can sit on above the stove that currently has a countertop microwave sitting in it. The opening is 16 1/2" high and 27" wide. Will a built in work?

We strongly encourage you to view the installation requirements by inputting the model number (PEM31DFBB) into our GE Appliances website. The maximum height for this model is 16-1/2" and 26-7/8"-29-7/8' wide. You will need trim kit JX830DFWW for this installation as well. Let us know if you have additional questions!

- Answer The PEM31SFSS with the appropriate built-in kit (27" - JX827SFSS or 30" - JX830SFSS) is the closest comparable replacement. To determine which kit to use, measure the overall width of your existing microwave with the trim on the sides. - Answer The best, and safest thing to do is measure your space and review specs on-line to make sure you're getting a unit that fits and works with your trim kit. I was changing color, so I had to purchase a new trim kit anyway.

- Answer I too was concerned as you are as I had the sppacemaker II as well. But I was able to get it out of the box and plug it in and slide it into the tight space. I don’t think will have a problem at all. I thought it may be too tall as well and need to remove the cabinet doors above the microwave.. imdid remove the doors. But to my surprise, the doors still appeared functional and re-screwed the doors back on.. perfect fit.
