Hey there, and thanks for contacting us. We hate to hear your microwave is no longer working, but we do appreciate you choosing GE Appliances for your next model! Unfortunately, you would not be able to reuse your existing bracket – we regret any inconvenience this may cause, but the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used, as the bracket is specific to each model. (The new screws, bolts and exhaust adapter should also be used.) That said, all 30” over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width and designed to fit into a 30” wide cabinet opening, so any of our over-the-range models of that width will work as a replacement for your existing model. Several of our models may work for you - PVM9179DRWW, for example, also has a white finish and has similar capacity and dimensions as your last model. If you’d like to view other options, you can do so on our GE Appliances website by viewing the ‘Kitchen’ tab, selecting ‘All Microwaves’ and using the filtering options on the side to choose ‘Over-the-Range’ as your type of microwave. We hope this is helpful, and are glad to assist with any other questions or concerns you may have. Thanks for being part of our GE Appliances family! -Sarah@GEA
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would not expect to be able to reuse brackets, especially if your old microwave is more than 5 years old. Manufacturers change designs and configurations all the time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is a crap-shoot from model to model, but considering you are staying with the same manufacturer, there is a fair chance the existing wall bracket will work. If not...ours didn't, it is not that difficult using the new bracket with the old holes. You also may have to change the holes under the cabinet for the top bolts and the power cord access, but that is also doable. We are on our third Microwave and I do not think the cabinet can take any more holes should we need a fourth. It is a nice microwave though.
