Hello. Thank you for asking your question about this portable air conditioner. Our room air conditioners of either window or portable are designed to be used in a totally enclosed area. We might suggest just purchasing a box fan for an outside area or a floor fan that oscillates. We hope this helps you make your decision. Stay well and cool. Geoff@GEA
