Hi Rin - Thanks for viewing GE Model APCA14YZBW! Yes, the air conditioning process is basically moving warm humid air outside so the hoses are designed primarily to move heat and humidity from a room. Operating the unit without an exhaust vent will not allow heat and humidity to be removed from the room. The unit will not function properly without an exhaust vent. Additionally the unit must be vented outdoors, not into an attic or other indoor space. You can view the Installation Guide here: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-5000439-1.pdf - If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you do but, it the best air conditioning unit I brought thus far. It’s not small though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. The unit blows cold air from the top vent and draws in room air all over the back. But there is an exhaust port on the back that blows *hot* air. You need to exhaust the hot air out of the room, otherwise your room temperature will not change (actually it will get hotter).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you have to use a window vent. It comes with a kit in the box that fits standard windows. Pretty easy to set up. We had a large casement window and had to set up plexiglass to vent it but still relatively easy. Good purchase!
